Apply for Services

Founded in 1995, The Miracles Club has been an important part of this community for almost three decades because it advances anti-racism, equity and inclusion by providing culturally specific, holistic peer-provided recovery support services. We apply person-centered principles to build relationships, trust, and rapport.

The Miracles Club services are based on the Social Model of Recovery, which is peer-oriented, empowers participants and gives each participant a voice in the direction of the organization and its services. Lived experience provides organizational wisdom and guidance. Services are designed to be low barrier and easy to access.

The Miracles Club is located in the historic heart of Portland’s African American community and has a building with a community center and meeting rooms that offer inviting gathering space for recovery meetings (such as AA, NA), meetings with mentors, access to job and health resources, and connecting with others for nonjudgmental support. Certified peer recovery mentors use trauma-informed and culturally specific expertise to build trust and help participants navigate recovery.

The Miracles Club approach is holistic and tailored to individual wants and needs. Our approach is informed by our lived experience: 95% of staff and leadership are African American and come from under-resourced communities and/or homelessness. All staff and 90% of our board members are in recovery. With this lived understanding, services and policy are culturally informed with an equity lens and goals of inclusion and antiracism.
